Leave out the negative

These are what make you different from all the other candidates out there. You are trying to attract the right people to you, and to do that you need to be specific. There is a lot of bad spelling and grammar out there.

If you focus on characteristics you risk sounding superficial, rigid, or overly picky. After all, you want someone to be interested in you for the right reasons. It might tell the story of an athletic, ambitious world traveler, or a geeky, sincere introvert.

They are also devoid of any human interaction and rely on keyword searches. Leave out the negative and the snarky. What does belong on your resume are your quantifiable, superstar achievements. When you are writing about who you are and how your live your life, be sure to show the reader what that looks like in action.

Previous positions can be noted but not expanded upon. Avoid instantly recognizable Microsoft Word resume templates. Imagine that your ideal partner is going to read your profile. Demonstrate that you understand your audience by conveying a knowledge of what they value.

Aim for clarity and eliminate clutter. Your story is dictating who is attracted to you, so make sure you are grabbing the attention of the right people. If you aren't able to be objective about your profile, ask someone you trust to read it for you.

They are also devoid

You obviously don't want to be too brief, but if it's too long, people may skim the entire thing and miss important information. Your profile should start out by describing your most prominent and positive character traits.

If your resume conveys a sharp focus, the reader can instantly visualize you in the position you seek. The systems store candidate data inside a database to allow effective searching, filtering, and routing of applications. Not only do you come across as negative, but you also give the impression that you are the very thing you claim not to want. It is more effective to focus on attracting the right people than repelling the wrong ones.

Employ strong, action-oriented language that communicates your value. Graphic elements that add interest, such as rule lines, boxes, shaded areas are fine.
